Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva

Mr. Josh Pruzansky
Susan and Hillel Raymon

Guests of Honor

The Raymon name has been synonymous with the Highland Park/Edison Jewish community ever since Rabbi and Rebbitzen Pesach Raymon, z"l, put in place an infrastructure that would ensure a Jewish presence here decades ago.  Susi and Hillel have devoted their lives to making certain that their vision would flourish into the future.

They have four beautiful and accomplished children:  Aliza (wife of Rabbi Donald Bixon, mother of Binyamin age 21, Pesach age 19, Michael age 17, Hadassah age 15, Netanel age 11); Rivka  (wife of Rabbi Dr. Evan Abrahams, mother of Pesach age 14, Yakov age 12, Yonatan age 9, Menachem age 5); Dr. Yael (wife of Shai Stahl, mother of Serach age 7, Ovadiah age 4, Chen age 2); and Dani.  All four Raymon children are graduates of both Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva (RPRY), the yeshiva that anchors our community, and of Yeshiva University.

Hilly was born and raised in Highland Park and attended Moriah Yeshiva Academy, which was later re-named RPRY in honor of Hilly’s father, its founder.  Hilly and Susi were married in 1970 and moved from Manhattan to Highland Park in 1977. Hilly has two law degrees (JD and LLM in taxation) from New York University School of Law.  He has been an attorney, real estate developer, investment manager and non-profit consultant.

Hilly’s service on the RPRY Board of Education, including as chair and co-chair, and on the Board of Directors, including as Treasurer, Vice-President and Chair of the Finance Committee, has provided continuity, caring and a commitment to the highest standards.  His concern for the children, teachers and administrative staff has always been the driving force behind his years of stewardship.

Susi’s foundational years were spent in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, before the family arrived in the United States.  Her parents, the Gottdieners, a”h, were among the philanthropic lights of the Elizabeth Jewish community and were major supporters of RPRY.  Susi earned a Master’s degree in education from NYU and a Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers.  She had a long career as a public school teacher and school social worker.  Susi continues to take courses in art history and other subjects at Rutgers University, where she volunteers as a docent at Rutgers’ Zimmerli Museum (she invites you to take a guided tour with her!).  Susi was active for many years in the RPRY PTA, and co-chaired several successful art auction fundraising events.

Susi and Hilly look forward to spending a growing amount of time each year in their new Jerusalem apartment, near where they have many close relatives and friends.

We salute them, and wish them many more years of health, nachas and productivity.  Mazal tov!
